- Lena (Guarino) of East Boston, passed away on Thursday
October 16th, 2008 in her 96th year.
Beloved wife of over 67 years to the late Fred Battaglia.
Devoted mother of Charles Battaglia and his wife Grace of Virginia,
Frederick Battaglia and his wife Maureen of East Sandwich, and Joe
Battaglia and his wife Carol of East Bridgewater.
Dear sister of the late John Guarino, Philomena DeLuca, and Mary Cecere.
Cherished grandmother of Paul and John Battaglia, Mary Petrick, Rick and
David Battaglia, Christine Williams, Melissa Herry, Jessica and JJ
Battaglia.
Also lovingly survived by 16 great grandchildren and many adored nieces
and nephews.
Funeral from the Ruggiero-Mazzarella Memorial Home,
971 Saratoga Street (Orient Heights) East Boston on Monday October 20th at 9:00am,
followed by her Funeral Mass in the St. Joseph - St. Lazarus Church,
59 Ashley Street, East Boston at
10:00am.
Visiting hours are on Sunday October 19th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.
Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
Lena was born in East Boston on January 5th,1913 to the late Raffaele
and Louise (Cappuccio) Guarino. She was a life-long resident of East
Boston before moving in to Winthrop Place a few years back. Lena and her
late husband Fred were devoted parishioners of St Lazarus Parish for
their entire lives. She was a member of the Courageous Generation of St.
Lazarus Parish, the St. Lazarus Home and School Association, and a late
member of Daughters of Italy. Lena passed away peacefully at Winthrop
Place on Thursday morning. She was 95 years of age.

E.B.N.H Center, 26 Sturgis Street, Winthrop MA 02152. The Memorial Home is handicapped accessible and a
children’s lounge is available. Courtesy valet parking at the front
entrance and ample attendant off street parking is also available in our
3 parking lots. For transportation to the memorial home please call
617-569-0990. Services will conclude with
Lena being laid to
rest in the Holy Cross Mausoleum in Malden.
